"My uncle, who lived in [northern Oklahoma] all his life, told a story about how when he was about ten years old," says Okie. "He was going out to the outhouse one cold winter night and said that as he tried to open the outhouse door, there was something inside it, preventing it from opening. My uncle said he was sleepy and cold and just wanted to do his business and be done with it and get back into the warm house, so he pushed his way into the outhouse with a bit of force. He was suddenly confronted by running right into a huge, stinking, hairy creature...."

Interest in the vampire mythos is at an all-time high. The genre is more popular than ever thanks to TV's
True Blood and
Vampire Diaries, and especially the enormous success of Stephenie Meyer's
Twilight series of novels. Let's take a look at the dark, mysterious world of vampires. Are they just fiction or are there real vampires out there seeking blood or psychic energy?

Some interesting links I've found this week:
•
Aeronauts from the Future - Over the years, there have been strange reports that are suggestive of either glimpses into the future through some sort of "time window" or sightings of actual time-travellers visiting us from our own future.
•
The Egyptian Underworld, Edgar Cayce's Hall of Records, and the Star System of Cygnus - An interview with Andrew Collins, on the existence of an Egyptian Underworld, the stuff of ancient Egyptian legends and myths, and the location of Edgar Cayce's psychic impressions of an ancient "Hall of Records."
•
The Voice of Divination: Omens, Oracles, and the Symbolist Worldview - The world is a kind of sacred text, this article says, written in the language of symbols, and holds that all phenomena harbor a deeper meaning beyond their obvious appearances. These meanings can be decoded, and everyday life unveiled for its deeper truths.

New Page Books
Psychics, mediums and other spiritualists have been sensing otherworldly "vibrations" and "frequencies" for well over a century. And now modern physics is seriously exploring the possibility that everything is made up of vibrating strings of energy -- that everything has a frequency. Marie D. Jones and Larry Flaxman attempt to bridge the paranormal and cutting-edge scientific theory with their book
The Resonance Key: Exploring the Links Between Vibration, Consciousness and the Zero Point Grid (New Page Books). The idea that the vibratory nature of matter -- that everything has a resonance -- could explain and unite many aspects of what we call the paranormal. Jones and Flaxman explore its role in healing, zero-point energy, the building of the pyramids of Egypt and even of consciousness itself and reality. The book makes for fascinating and thought-provoking reading.

"I worked for our local hospital cleaning the doctors' offices after hours," says Magi. "This was about 2 or 3 in the morning and the night was clear and warm. I was standing outside in front of one of the offices having a smoke. I was looking up at the sky when suddenly movement to my right caught my eye. I quickly turned my head and caught sight of something dark -- very dark, like a shadow -- on the roof...." But it wasn't just a shadow. Magi's decription of what she saw is chilling.

On a recent episode of
Fringe (Season 2, Episode 6), a shadow entity attacks unwitting victims and turns them into piles of dust (some very good effects here). In this case, the shadowman is an entity from outer space that made its way to earth via a cosmonaut, and it feeds on the trace amounts of radiation people carry in their bodies.
As you've no doubt read in this site's Your True Tales, many people claim to have had sightings or encounters with shadow people. Most of the time they are seen as harmless if unnerving fleeting shadows out of the corner of one's eye. They certainly have not been blamed for disintegrating folks into gray powder. There have been reports, however, of some shadow people being more than just shadows -- having physical effects and even attacking. Check out these stories:
Some suspect that Fringe might have it right -- that shadow people are extraterrestrial. What do you think?
